Upcoming events
On Thursday, 3rd September, the PCC voted to replace the rear baptismal font with a moveable one and swap all pews for comfortable chairs.
This decision followed a thorough debate to better equip the church for present and future generations, directly aligning with our church growth plan:
Wonderful Worship: Removing the pews and font allows for greater flexibility for diverse worship styles, from traditional to contemporary.
Discipleship: A remodelled space creates scope for congregation-wide training and courses, including Alpha, Bible studies, and large prayer meetings.
Compassion for the community: Open floor space enhances midweek ministries, including youth and children's work, toddler groups, and events for seniors.
Replacing the pews ensures improved movement around the building to meet modern disability laws while also clearing the way for future eco-friendly upgrades such as under-floor heating.
The Diocese of Guildford fully supports this move, reflecting a 25-year trend across the Church of England toward more flexible worship spaces. Please be assured that the PCC remains committed to preserving St James' as a sacred, holy space for prayer, worship, and silent meditation.
Thank you.
Thomas Russell and Matt Hook are looking for other men of St James' with a shared interest in joining a men's discipleship group.
The First get-together will be held on the evening of 17th September. This will then reoccur every third Thursday of the month.
The first meeting will be held at Thomas' and Gemma's house.
This will be in addition to the existing Men's Group which meets on the 2nd Thursday of each month
On Sunday 20th September at 10.45am there will be a special all-age service dedicated to all children starting a new term and a new year.
For some it will also be at a new school. We have invited the parents of year R children at Rowledge Primary school to be with us on that morning.
Please do join us on that Sunday as we worship God together.
There will be a Harvest Service on Sunday, 11th October.
All produce to go to Farnham Food bank.
The service will be followed by a shared lunch.
Jan Clark will produce a sign up sheet at the back of church.
Prayer Meetings
These will be held on the second Sunday of every month at 9:45am, in the parish rooms before the Sunday service at 10:30am.
Please join us.
The next meeting will be Sunday, 13th September at 9:45am.
"Come to me, all you who are weary
and burdened, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you and learn
from me, for I am gentle and humble in
heart, and you will find rest for your
souls.
